New Delhi, Agencies. There is no conclusion of the political crisis in Madhya Pradesh yet. The petition in the Supreme Court for the floor test in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly is going to be heard again today. The hearing is going on before the bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and Hemant Gupta. There was a long debate in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, but the decision was not made.
During the hearing on the demand for floor test, the speaker of Madhya Pradesh Assembly told the Supreme Court that the governor has only three powers - summoning, demolishing and dissolving the house. Earlier, the Supreme Court questioned the speaker about the rebel MLAs.
During the hearing, the Supreme Court says that if there is no session in the House and if the current government loses majority then the Governor has the right to instruct the Speaker to vote for confidence.
The Madhya Pradesh Assembly speaker has asked the Supreme Court for 2 weeks. On this question, former Madhya Pradesh CM and BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that why do they need more time? To get involved in horse trending? Now they know that they do not have numbers. This is an excuse to transfer something else.
Speaking on the Speaker's counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi giving time for the resignation of the MLAs, Justice DY Chandrachud said that it is necessary to conduct a floor test early to prevent the horse-trading of MLAs. Justice Chandrachud said that the Supreme Court can also appoint observers for video conferencing. Lawyer Singhvi also said that the MLA is hostage, Digvijay Singh went to meet, but could not be found.
- During the hearing, the Supreme Court remarked whether the speaker will meet the rebel MLAs through video link and then decide? The assembly speaker said that he cannot do this.
Advocate AM Singhvi, representing Madhya Pradesh Speakers, told the Supreme Court that please give me two weeks to decide. Let rebel MLAs return to Madhya Pradesh, their homes. AM Singhvi told the Supreme Court that even the Supreme Court cannot revoke the discretion of the Speaker.
The Supreme Court has resumed the hearing today on a petition by former Madhya Pradesh CM and BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chauhan and others to conduct floor tests in the state assembly.
Speaker's lawyer will present his opinion on the resignation of rebel MLAs
There is no conclusion about the ongoing politics in Madhya Pradesh. There was a long debate in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, but the decision could not be taken. The court asked Abhishek Manu Singhvi, counsel for the state assembly speaker, when he would take a decision on the resignation of the 16 rebel MLAs. Singhvi said that he would be able to tell on Thursday.
Chief Minister Kamal Nath said about the 16 MLAs present in Bengaluru, 'I have been calling the Home Minister of the country, including the Chief Minister of Karnataka, since morning but no one is being contacted. Didn't even answer my phone. Even today, we want floor test, but the rules should be according to procedure and constitution. In a discussion with the media, Nath attacked the BJP and said that if he feels that the government does not have a majority, then he should move a no-confidence motion in the assembly.
Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that if I wanted to, I would have become the Chief Minister at the same time (15 months ago). People (MLAs) were also coming, but we only said, more seats have come from you to form the government. Speaking to the media at the resort of Sehore, Chauhan said that the BJP had already said that it will not bring down this government. If the Congress falls due to its contradictions, nothing can be done.
