Saudi Arabia's Prime Minister and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) has canceled his visit to Pakistan starting November 21. The Foreign Ministry of Pakistan has also confirmed this. Shahbaz Sharif was eagerly waiting for Salman's visit, as he was about to give a new loan of about $ 4.1 billion to Pakistan, which is on the verge of bankruptcy.
Imran's tour canceled due to a long march
According to media reports, due to the Long March of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, there is chaos and tension in Pakistan. For this reason, Prince Salman has canceled the tour. Imran is also going to protest in Islamabad demanding early elections.
problem of Pakistan
Last month, Shahbaz Sharif went on a tour of Saudi Arabia. It happened for the first time that during this visit Saudi did not announce any kind of help to Pakistan. However, it was decided that Prince Salman would come to Islamabad at the end of November and announce big help to Pakistan there. Since then Prince Salman's visit was being awaited. Now this visit is canceled.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry is refraining from saying anything clearly about this. According to him, the tour has been postponed and has not been canceled.
what was expected
Pakistan's foreign reserves are currently between 7 to 8 billion dollars. Of these, about $2.5 billion is deposited in the form of guarantee money towards Saudi. Saudi oil is also being given on loan to Pakistan. UAE has given 1.5 billion dollars. This also guarantees money. Guarantee money means that this money will remain in the treasury of the Government of Pakistan, but it will not be able to use or spend it.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in the Shahbaz Sharif government had said recently – Prince Salman will give a loan of $4.1 billion to Pakistan. Apart from this, Saudi is also going to help us in the petroleum sector.
Now Pakistan's problems have increased due to the cancellation of Salman's tour. Pakistan is not going to get any installment for three months from the International Monetary Fund i.e. IMF. Sharif also went to China last month but did not get a new loan from there either.
Tension in Pakistan due to the long march
The Long March of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has started again from Thursday. He was attacked last week. After this, the march was stopped for a few days. At present, Imran is not involved in this march, but other party leaders are a part of it.
Imran has threatened that if the election dates are not announced at the earliest, he will block Islamabad. His supporters already exist outside the capital's borders. Khan has said that he will join the Long March in Rawalpindi. The motive behind this is that Khan wants to put pressure on the army to bring him back to power.
Relations between Imran and the army have gone from bad to worse in recent months. The army alleges that Imran wants to create a rift in the Pakistan Army. Earlier, in 2014, Chinese President Xi Jinping had to cancel his visit to Pakistan due to Imran's dharna.
