Marathi Language Agitation: Raut criticized Raj Thackeray, saying- he followed political tradition by taking a U-turn

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday criticized Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray's decision to stop the agitation to enforce the use of Marathi in banks and elsewhere. He said it is futile to target lower-level employees. He said Thackeray had followed his political tradition by deciding to stop the Marathi language agitation. My best wishes are with him.

 

At his rally on Gudi Padwa on March 30, MNS chief Thackeray had reiterated his stand to make Marathi compulsory for official work. During this, he had warned that those who deliberately do not speak the language will be 'slapped'. Later, MNS workers created ruckus in some banks and establishments, following which Raj Thackeray on Saturday directed the workers to stop the agitation. He said the agitation has shown the consequences of not following the Reserve Bank of India's norms on the use of local language.

 

Raut criticizes assault on bank employees.

Sanjay Raut spoke to reporters about the U-turn by MNS. He said, 'Raj Thackeray has followed his political tradition. My best wishes are with him.' Raut also criticized the beating of some bank employees by MNS workers. He asked, 'What will happen by beating a peon or a watchman? Do they decide the policies?'

Raut said that MNS workers had attacked a private bank on Thursday. During this, they had taken assurance from the bank manager that they would put up Marathi language boards in their branch and remove English boards. He said that we made a film on Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray, in which it was shown who to beat. We did not beat the peon but the Chairman of Air India. Its effect was that the way for recruitment of Marathi youth in Air India and other national institutions was cleared.
