Sandeep Pathak, who played an important role in getting the Aam Aadmi Party the status of a national party, has got a big reward. Aam Aadmi Party's National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal has appointed Sandeep Pathak as the National Organization General Secretary. He will play an important role in strengthening the party organization across the country. He has also been appointed as a special invitee to the Political Affairs Committee. Sandeep Pathak was appointed in charge of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Gujarat Assembly elections. Under his leadership, the party made a spectacular debut in Gujarat, winning five seats, and garnering nearly 13 percent of the vote.
Before this, Sandeep Pathak also held the responsibility of being in charge of the Punjab Assembly elections. Contesting the elections under his leadership, the party registered a historic victory in Punjab. After this, his stature in the party was increased by sending him to the Rajya Sabha. This appointment of Sandeep Pathak has been done at a time when the party is working on a strategy to play a bigger role in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The party's national executive meeting is to be held in Delhi this Sunday, December 11, in which important decisions can be taken regarding the elections to be held for the nine state assemblies next year. The meeting will be attended by both the party's chief ministers Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann, all ten Rajya Sabha members, MLAs, and party office-bearers. The elevation of Sandeep Pathak ahead of this meeting is indicating the bigger intentions of the party.
Who is Sandeep Pathak?
Former Assistant Professor of IIT Delhi Sandeep Pathak is highly educated. He has received education from Oxford and Cambridge. Born in Bataha village of Chhattisgarh, Sandeep Dixit did his higher education in the country at National Chemical Laboratory, Pune. Later obtained degrees in research from Oxford and MIT. Arvind Kejriwal, himself an IIT pass-out, recognized his organizational talent and associated him with the Aam Aadmi Party. Behind the scenes, he played a key role in the party's victory in Punjab. He was also the co-in-charge of Himachal Pradesh where the party could not put up any significant performance.
Assembly elections are to be held in nine states including Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka in the next year i.e. 2023. The big challenge of taking the party forward in these states is in front of Sandeep Pathak. If the party does well in these elections, then in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Arvind Kejriwal may try to stake a claim in front of Prime Minister Modi as the candidate of the opposition, which his party has been claiming for a long time. Arvind Kejriwal and other party leaders have congratulated him on getting his new responsibility.
