Attacks against minorities in Bangladesh show no sign of stopping. In the violence that erupted after the murder of Usman Hadi, six Hindus have been killed in 18 days. Two of these murders took place in the last 24 hours. Shockingly, despite these killings, the government of Mohammed Yunus in Bangladesh remains indifferent.
On Monday, Sarat Chakraborty Mani, a grocery store owner in Narsingdi, Bangladesh, was brutally murdered. Also on Monday, Hindu journalist Rana Pratap Bairagi was brutally murdered in Manirampur, Jessore, after being shot and then having his throat slit.
Six Hindus were killed in 18 days.
According to local media reports, 40-year-old Hindu man Sarat Chakraborty Mani was attacked and killed with sharp weapons by extremists in Narsingdi, on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka. Eyewitnesses said that Sarat was at his grocery store in Charsindur market in Narsingdi when unknown assailants suddenly attacked him with sharp weapons.
He was seriously injured. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. The deceased, Sarat Chakraborty Mani, previously worked in South Korea and had returned to Bangladesh a few years ago.
Hindus will disappear from Bangladesh: Social activist.
Bangladeshi social activist Bappaditya Basu strongly condemned Sarat's murder. He warned that if this continues, the existence of Hindus in Bangladesh will be wiped out in a few years. He alleged that Mohammed Yunus's government is supporting the killings of Hindus. He claimed, "Two days before the incident, the extremists had demanded a large sum of money from Sarat. The extremists called it Jizya (a tax historically levied on non-Muslims). The extremists threatened that if he filed a complaint with the police, his wife would be kidnapped." 'Congress and the INDIA bloc parties are silent,' says the BJP leader
Telangana BJP president N Ramchandra Rao said, "The killings of Hindus in Bangladesh are increasing day by day. In the last 18 days, about six people, including a journalist and a grocery store owner, have been murdered. We strongly condemn these targeted killings of Hindus in Bangladesh, and the entire country stands with the minorities in Bangladesh."
He added, "Unfortunately, Congress and all other parties of the INDIA bloc are silent on this issue. They are talking a lot about Venezuela, but they are not saying anything about the plight of Hindus. I believe that the entire country needs to unite and exert diplomatic pressure. The Indian government is doing so."
Hindu journalist Rana Bairagi was shot dead.
A Hindu journalist, Rana Pratap Bairagi, was also shot dead on Monday in Jessore's Manirampur in Bangladesh. Bairagi, a 45-year-old factory owner and editor of a newspaper, was shot multiple times in the head by the attackers. The attackers then slit his throat.
Manirampur Police Station officer Mohammad Raziullah Khan said the attack took place around 6 pm on Monday. Rana was shot three times in the head, and his throat was slit. Efforts are being made to apprehend the attackers.
