Bloody Daddy Review: Shahid Kapoor's 'Bloody Avatar' in the role of father, will say - 'Father of action'

Shahid Kapoor made his digital debut this year with the web series 'Farzi'. He was appreciated a lot for that. Now his film Bloody Daddy has been released on Geo Cinema.

Like Kabir Singh and Jersey, Shahid starrer Bloody Daddy is also a remake of the 2011 French film Sleepless Night. Bloody Daddy has adapted to the Indian environment, but the core of the story remains the same.

What is the story of the film?

The story is of Sumer (Shahid Kapoor) working in the Narcotics Department. While chasing a car carrying drugs in Delhi along with his accomplice (Zeeshan Siddiqui), he gets hold of a bag full of drugs. This bag belongs to Sikandar (Ronit Rai), who runs a drug business in the guise of a hotel.

The cost of these drugs in the market is about fifty crore rupees. Sikandar captures Sumer's son to get that back. Summer arrives at the hotel with the bag but hides it in the bathroom. Meanwhile, Aditi (Diana Penty), who is following him, discovers the bag and informs her boss Sameer (Rajeev Khandelwal) at the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

He is unaware that his boss is a corrupt official. How does Sumer get hold of the bag? The story is about how Sumer, who is fighting with a drug peddler on the one hand and an officer of the Anticorruption Bureau on the other hand, takes his son out of there.

How is Shahid's film in terms of screenplay, dialogue, and acting?

Director of films like 'Sultan', 'Tiger Zinda Hai' and 'Bharat', Ali Abbas Zafar's 'Bloody Daddy' story is nothing new. The treatment of the film makes it visible. He has linked the Corona period with the film. It has been told in the beginning that as soon as the second wave of Korana was over in 2021, crores of people had lost their lives and jobs.

Crime had increased beyond limits. Life was getting normal in India. Then the story of the corrupt officials of Narcotics is shown. Even if he did not connect the story with the Corona period, it would not have made much difference. Being a remake, the beginning of the story is the same as in the French film. Being an action thriller film, the action of the film is well choreographed.

The story is of one night. Sumer is ready to go to any extent to get his son released. Meanwhile, the events of the hotel staff and the wedding happening there also become a part of the story. Sumer is described as reckless and irresponsible, but she has a clever mind.

Ali Abbas Zafar has shown the readiness with which he defeats the enemy while being wounded. Ali rotates his characters between hotel rooms, kitchens, and washrooms. The film is about getting a bag full of drugs. It does not talk about the harm caused by drugs. The special attraction of this film shot during the Corona period is its action.

Especially the action sequences between Shahid and Rajeev Khandelwal are superb. The good thing is that there is no dancing or singing in the film. In the first half of the film, the few scenes between Sikandar and Hamid (Sanjay Kapoor) bring moments of laughter. The story is of father and son, although their relationship is not much explored.

However, the story completely revolves around Shahid's character. He lives up to that responsibility. The special thing is that Shahid is constantly breaking his limits in imbibing and playing the characters. His character in this film may be careless but obsessed with rescuing his son.

In such a situation, he has shown Sumer's aggression, agility, and passion with ease. Shahid looks good while doing an action. Diana Penty may have been described as a supercop, but there is no strong scene on her part. Ronit Rai attracts the character of Sikandar, a hotelier and drug peddler.

Rajeev Khandelwal is comfortable and natural in the role of Anti-Corruption Bureau officer Sameer. Zeeshan Siddiqui, Ankur Bhatia, Vivaan Bhatena, and Sanjay Kapoor make an impact in cameo appearances. There is a clear indication of making a sequel at the end of the film.
