China is continuously taking advantage of the sourness in mutual relations between India and Nepal. Once again, China has tried to trap Nepal with the arrow of its words and distance it from India. On Saturday, China's top leadership, led by Chinese President Xi Jinping, praised the continued development of the Sino-Nepal friendship, saying Beijing has always regarded Kathmandu as its equal. China's reaction is also important because Nepal's relations with India have not been good for some time, while its relations with China are steadily improving.
While exchanging congratulatory messages with Nepalese counterpart Bidya Devi Bhandari on the 65th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between China and Nepal, Xi Jinping said that China will work forward to the continued progress of bilateral relations with Nepal. According to a statement published in the official media on Saturday morning, Xi said that the two countries have always respected each other, treated each other equally, increased political mutual trust and deepened mutually beneficial cooperation.
Xi Jinping further said that the two countries have stood shoulder to shoulder in the fight against the coronavirus and both sides have written a new chapter of friendship between China and Nepal. At the same time, Nepali counterpart Vidya Devi Bhandari praised Beijing and Xi Jinping for international cooperation. He said that Nepal welcomes the approach proposed by China to build a community with a shared future for mankind and is actively involved in cooperation on the co-construction of Belt and Road.
Also, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang separately spoke with his counterpart Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli about increasing mutual trust and friendship between China and Nepal. Li said that China is ready to work with Nepal to strengthen all-round cooperation in high-level construction and belt and road initiatives in various fields and it can take bilateral relations to new levels. Oli, in his congratulatory message, said that bilateral relations have seen steady growth since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Indeed, Nepal released a revised map of its country in June, after which its relations with India have deteriorated slightly. Nepal released a new political map, in which it has shown Kalapani, Lipulekh, and Limpiyadhura in its territory. Whereas India had put TRAI Junction in the map released in November 2019.
Defense strategist Rajnath Singh had opened a strategically important 80 km road near the border with China in Uttarakhand, which ends near Lipulekh Pass. Nepal had objected to the road being opened. However, India made it so that the journey to Kailash Mansarovar would become easier.
Here New Delhi believes that at the behest of China, Kathmandu is debating this old controversy. Indian Army Chief MM Narwane had also hinted that Nepal is opposing India's new road because someone is instigating it.
At the same time, Nepalese Prime Minister KP Oli had alleged in June that India was plotting such a thing to oust him from power. Not only this, KP Oli made another shocking statement that the real Ayodhya is not in India but Nepal.
