Chennai Super Kings (CSK) gave a strong performance at their home ground MA Chidambaram Stadium and defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by a huge margin of 78 runs. For Chennai, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad played an inning of 98 runs in 54 balls and made a century partnership with Daryl Mitchell, based on which Chennai scored 212 runs for three wickets in 20 overs. In reply, fast bowler Tushar Deshpande performed brilliantly and took four wickets, and Hyderabad's innings was reduced to 134 runs in 18.5 overs. Aiden Markram was the top scorer for Hyderabad scoring 32 runs on 26 balls.

CSK becomes the third team to win more than 50 matches on a single-ground

Chennai Super Kings team registered its 50th win at its home ground Chepauk. Chennai has become the third team to win more than 50 matches at any one venue in the IPL. Before that, the teams of Mumbai and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have also registered more than 50 wins on their home ground.

CSK took a huge leap in the table

With the big win over Hyderabad, Chennai made a big jump of three places in the points table and has reached the third position in the table with 10 points with five wins, while the Hyderabad team is in the fourth position with two consecutive losses.

Tushar faltered in Hyderabad's innings

Hyderabad, which started chasing the target, had a very bad start and lost three wickets for just 40 runs. The interesting thing was that all three wickets were taken by Tushar Deshpande. Tushar performed brilliantly with his bowling in this match and did not give Hyderabad batsmen a chance to open their hands. Tushar Deshpande provided three successes for Chennai in the powerplay. He has become the third bowler this season to take three wickets in the first six overs. Before Tushar, Rajasthan Royals' Trent Boult and Sandeep Warrier had also done this.

Hyderabad got its biggest defeat

Hyderabad batsmen were seen struggling to score runs in this match. Except for Aiden Markram, none of his other batsmen could cross the 30-run mark. Hyderabad's batting has been so bad that five batsmen of the team could not reach double figures and the team could not even play the full 20 overs and got all out. Hyderabad thus suffered its biggest defeat in IPL history in terms of runs. Earlier, it had been defeated by Chennai by 77 runs in 2013, which was its biggest defeat.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave a great start to Hyderabad

Earlier, Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bowl first. Fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave an initial blow to Chennai by dismissing opener Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane was out after scoring nine runs in 12 balls and once again failed to give a strong start to the team. Rahane has become the player with the lowest average for Chennai after playing at least 150 balls in the IPL. Rahane has an average of 14.80 which is the lowest average of any batsman while playing for Chennai.

A great partnership between Gaikwad and Mitchell

After Rahane was dismissed cheaply, Ruturaj and Daryl Mitchell batted brilliantly and took the team to a standstill by making a century partnership of 107 runs for the second wicket. Gaikwad scored his third half-century of this season, while Daryl also did not lag and was successful in completing his fifty. Both the batsmen batted brilliantly and made Hyderabad yearn for wickets. However, Jaydev Unadkat ended this partnership by dismissing Daryl Mitchell. Mitchell hit seven fours and one six in his innings of 52 runs in 32 balls. After this Shivam Dubey supported Gaikwad well. Gaikwad continued his aggressive innings from the other end and was close to scoring his second consecutive century. However, T. Natarajan prevented Gaikwad from scoring a century by dismissing him on the second ball of the last over. Gaikwad hit 10 fours and three sixes in 54 balls in his innings. After this, Dhoni came on the field and the Chennai audience welcomed him warmly.

Shivam Dubey's aggressive batting

Shivam Dubey also batted aggressively and returned unbeaten after scoring 39 runs in 20 balls with the help of one four and four sixes. Dhoni also remained unbeaten after scoring five runs on two balls with the help of one four. On the strength of Gaikwad and Mitchell, CSK was successful in scoring a strong score. Shivam also targeted almost every bowler and he made an important partnership of 74 runs with Gaikwad for the fourth wicket. Hyderabad bowlers failed to make an impact in this match too and could not maintain a good starting rhythm.

CSK becomes the team to score more than 200 most times in T20 cricket

Due to the stormy batting of Gaikwad, Mitchell, and Shivam Dubey, CSK was once again successful in scoring more than 200 runs. Chennai scored runs at a run rate of 12.80 in the death overs against Hyderabad. With this, the CSK team has become the team to score more than 200 most times in T20. CSK scored more than 200 in T20 cricket for the 35th time and in this case left behind the English county club Somerset, which has scored more than 200 times in T20 34 times.
