Team India batsman Tilak Varma played a brilliant innings against Zimbabwe. He had struggled so far in the T20 World Cup 2026, but against Zimbabwe, he was given the new role of finisher. Tilak performed his new role admirably, scoring 44 runs to help Team India cross 250.

 

 

Tilak had been batting slowly in the T20 World Cup, which had led to criticism. However, he appeared in excellent form in the match against Zimbabwe. After his good performance, Tilak expressed his commitment to do everything for the team's benefit. He said that he would not shy away from fulfilling whatever role the team assigns him.

Tilak Varma's statement

After the match, Tilak said, "I always say that I am ready to do whatever the team requires. I have been doing this for the Mumbai Indians for the last four years. I have fulfilled whatever role the team has given me." I've played a few matches in these conditions for the Indian team. That's why I'm ready for it. I was just waiting for an innings, and I thank God that I've already had that innings. It came at the right time, and I'm confident I can win matches for the team going forward.

 

 

Before the match against Zimbabwe, Tilak was struggling, leading to talks of dropping him. Before the match in Chennai, Tilak's tournament scores were 25, 25, 25, 31, and 1. Furthermore, his strike rate was below 120.

 

 

Tilak's innings against Zimbabwe

Tilak Verma was batting at number three in the T20 World Cup. However, he wasn't able to hit the ball properly and was getting out trying to play big shots. Against Zimbabwe, he was given a new role and was sent to bat at number six. He batted brilliantly and scored 44 runs in 16 balls.
