ED affidavit on Kejriwal Arrest: The troubles of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, arrested in liquor scam case, are not showing any signs of ending. After the bail plea was rejected several times, the ED has now given an affidavit in the Supreme Court on Wednesday. In this affidavit, ED told the court that Kejriwal has shown the investigating officer by his conduct that he is guilty of money laundering.
ED said this to the court
The Enforcement Directorate (ED), in its counter affidavit on Kejriwal's plea challenging the arrest, said the AAP leader was avoiding questioning by not appearing before the investigating officer despite nine summons. The ED said, “The accused by his conduct gave rise to the need for arrest.
Kejriwal's petition deserves to be rejected
Terming Kejriwal's plea challenging his arrest as "meritless" and liable to be dismissed, the ED said the reasons why he has been arrested have been studied by various courts. Responding to the affidavit, AAP alleged that the ED has become a "lying machine".
ED also argued that
ED said that the petition had no merit and it could be dismissed. The second argument given in this regard was that the material available with the investigating agency has led to the arrest to reach the requisite satisfaction for the investigating agency.
The ED said Kejriwal's arrest was examined by three courts at different levels and found proper. This is the reason why the courts refused to grant the relief sought by the petitioner in this regard.
The ED said the arrest is part of the investigation and it is exclusively within the agency's jurisdiction to investigate the crime.
Let us tell you that ED arrested Kejriwal on March 21, hours after the Delhi High Court refused to grant protection to the agency from punitive action in the money laundering case. He is currently lodged in Tihar jail under judicial custody.
On April 15, the apex court had sought the ED's response by April 24 on a plea challenging his arrest in a money laundering case related to the alleged liquor scam.
