Ravindra Jadeja was the top scorer in India's first innings with 87 runs and also took five wickets in two innings. Jadeja's hamstring muscles have been strained. He was trying to run fast in the second innings and could not complete this run. Ben Stokes's accurate throw sent him to the pavilion. Just before getting out, he immediately realized that there was some problem with his hamstring. Jadeja was not looking comfortable and head coach Rahul Dravid has not clarified anything about his injury.
"We'll see. To be honest, I haven't got a chance to talk to the physio yet. Once I'm back, I'll talk to him and see what's the matter," Dravid said in the post-match media conference. " How serious the hamstring injury is determines how long the player will remain out of the field. Even if it is not an injury and just a strain, Jadeja may still be advised to rest for at least a week.
The time between the first and second Tests is very short. It will be difficult for Jadeja to recover from fatigue and injury in just four days. It is still not clear whether Jadeja will accompany the team to Vizag or go to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Jadeja also missed a Test match in South Africa last month due to back spasms on the morning of the first Test in Centurion. If Ravindra Jadeja is out, Kuldeep Yadav may get a chance in the second test. Kuldeep Yadav along with Ashwin and Axar Patel will bring variety to the spin bowling and it may be difficult for the England batsmen to read them.
