Meta has officially unveiled Muse Image, its first image-generation AI model developed by the newly established Meta Superintelligence Labs. Alongside it, the company also introduced a preview of Muse Video, an AI-powered video generation model that will be rolled out to creators and Meta AI users in the coming months. With this launch, Meta is significantly expanding its AI ecosystem across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Meta AI.
Currently, Muse Image is available through the Meta AI app and Meta.ai. Users in the United States can also access it via Instagram Stories, while support for WhatsApp has begun rolling out in select countries.
Meta Muse Image AI: Smarter Image Generation With Advanced Reasoning
Unlike traditional AI image generators that simply convert text prompts into images, Muse Image uses an advanced agent-based reasoning system before creating visuals. According to Meta, the model can search the web for updated information, execute code to generate accurate QR codes, create charts and graphics, and continuously refine its outputs for higher accuracy.
The AI model also offers advanced editing capabilities, allowing users to modify only specific parts of an image without changing the entire composition. It can combine multiple reference images into a single prompt, enabling users to seamlessly merge people, objects, locations, and artistic styles into one high-quality image.
Meta says Muse Image prioritizes reasoning over trial-and-error, resulting in more accurate, creative, and context-aware image generation.
Muse Video AI Also Announced
Meta has also showcased Muse Video, a next-generation AI video creation model built on the same technology as Muse Image. The upcoming model promises:
Better prompt understanding
Improved video quality
Native AI-generated audio
Enhanced creative control
The feature is currently under testing and is expected to launch for creators and Meta AI users in the coming months.
AI Images Will Get 'Content Seal' Watermark
To improve transparency, Meta has introduced Content Seal, an invisible watermark embedded into AI-generated images. The company claims this watermark remains intact even after cropping, resizing, or compressing an image, making it easier to identify AI-generated content.
New AI Features Coming to WhatsApp & Instagram
Muse Image will power several upcoming AI features across Meta's platforms, including:
AI-powered image generation directly inside WhatsApp chats
AI-generated Instagram Story effects
Smart room redesign suggestions using products from the web and Facebook Marketplace
Advanced image editing with selective modifications
Availability
Meta says Muse Image is available free for regular users with standard usage limits. Users requiring higher limits and advanced capabilities will be able to access them through Meta's subscription plans.
With Muse Image and Muse Video, Meta is taking a major step toward integrating advanced generative AI directly into its social media and messaging platforms, allowing users to create, edit, and share AI-generated content more seamlessly than ever before.
