On Friday, the world's pace suddenly came to a halt due to a Microsoft server going down. This IT crash has become the biggest IT crisis in recent years. It is even being called a digital pandemic. There are many false claims of conspiracies going on on social media regarding this IT crisis, one of which is that this is the beginning of the Third World War. At the same time, some people believe that this is a cyber attack targeting the world's top class.
The world's pace slowed down due to the Microsoft server down.
Microsoft server down affected airlines, banks, TV channels, and financial institutions around the world. According to media reports, due to this IT crisis, about 3 percent i.e. 4295 flights were canceled worldwide. Out of these, 1100 flights were canceled in America alone. At the same time, more than 1700 flights were delayed. Due to this, heavy crowds were seen at airports around the world and passengers also created a ruckus at many places. Due to the Microsoft server being down, 95 percent of computers and laptops running on Microsoft's operating system came to a standstill worldwide.
Rumors continued on social media throughout the day.
On Friday (July 19), various misleading claims were made throughout the day regarding this. Rumors continued on the social media platform X that the world has been attacked by evil forces. One user wrote 'I had read somewhere that the third world war will be mainly a cyber war.' Some users also claimed that the World Economic Forum is behind this IT crisis. In support of this, users mentioned an old video of the World Economic Forum, in which the possibility of a cyber attack like the Corona epidemic was expressed. In the old video of the World Economic Forum, it was said that the only way to prevent the threat of cyber attacks from spreading rapidly would be to disconnect millions of vulnerable devices from each other and the Internet.
The trouble started with a software update.
Microsoft's IT crisis started due to a software update by American anti-virus company CrowdStrike. Due to this, a message with a blue background appeared on the computer screen. This is called the Blue Screen of Death. In this situation, computer systems started restarting automatically. Due to this, there is also a possibility of losing data. However, Microsoft shrugged off the crisis by saying that it was not its fault but a third-party problem. Microsoft itself did nothing to fix it and kept waiting for the cyber security firm to fix the problem.
