Indian team's fast bowler Mohammed Shami won the hearts of cricket lovers with his brilliant performance against New Zealand in the World Cup semi-finals. Shami took seven wickets for New Zealand in this match and made an important contribution to securing India's place in the World Cup final. The 33-year-old bowler made a record of taking 50 wickets in just 17 matches in the World Cup. He also won the Man of the Match award.

After the match, Shami said that he was trying to reduce the speed of the ball while bowling the over so that the batsmen were forced to take shots. “We talk a lot about variations, but I still believe in increasing it and taking wickets with the new ball. I focused on trying to reduce the speed of the ball so that the batsmen were forced to hit it in the air. Due to this, he was successful in taking wickets.

However, Shami admitted that the Indian camp was a little worried due to the dew in the evening. After Hardik Pandya's injury, Shami got a place in the playing 11. On this, the fast bowler said that he was waiting to get a chance in the playing 11 team. He said I was waiting for my chance. I haven't played much white ball cricket. My comeback started against New Zealand (in Dharamsala).

Born on 03 September 1990 in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, Mohammed Shami made his ODI debut against Pakistan on 06 January 2013 at the Arun Jetal Stadium in Delhi. Dispute with wife and allegations of domestic violence

Mohammed Shami married model and cheerleader Hasin Jahan in 2014. Both have a daughter. At present, both are living separately. Actually, in 2018, a family dispute came to light between Shami and Hasin Jahan. Hasin had filed a case against Shami and his family members alleging domestic violence and adultery. In which an allegation of rape was also made against Shami's elder brother. Hasin had made many allegations against Shami including domestic violence, an attempt to murder, and criminal intimidation.

However, Shami had denied all the allegations and termed them as a conspiracy to distract him from cricket. On September 2, 2019, a Kolkata court issued an arrest warrant against Shami in a domestic violence case. On September 9, the district court had stayed the warrant. Currently, the divorce case of Hasin Jahan and Shami is pending in court. According to Haseen, Shami gives her Rs 1.30 lakh every month as a maintenance allowance.

match-fixing allegations

Hasin Jahan had also claimed that Shami was involved in match-fixing. After these allegations, BCCI removed Shami from its national contract list. The BCCI's anti-corruption unit investigated these allegations and Shami was cleared of corruption charges. Also, BCCI reinstated his national contract.

contemplating suicide

In the year 2020, Shami talked about the adverse impact on mental health due to the allegations made by his wife. Shami had said that he had contemplated suicide on three occasions, but his family supported him. Thus, due to controversies and injuries in his personal life, Shami had to struggle to return to cricket.
