
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate projects worth over Rs 10,800 crore in Karnataka's northern districts of Yadagiri and Kalaburagi on Thursday. This will be the second such visit of the Prime Minister to Karnataka this month. He was in Hubballi on January 12 to inaugurate the National Youth Festival, during which he did a massive road show.

The Prime Minister will visit Yadgir and Kalaburagi districts in Karnataka. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate various developmental projects related to irrigation, drinking water, and a National Highway Development Project at Kodekal in Yadgir district at around 12 noon. The Prime Minister will reach Malkhed in Kalaburagi district around 2:15 pm, where he will distribute title deeds (Hakku Patra) to eligible beneficiaries of the newly declared revenue villages and also lay the foundation stone of a National Highway project.

Yadgir Multi-Village Drinking Water Supply Scheme at Kodekal in Yadgiri district under Jal Jeevan Mission is a further step towards realizing the Prime Minister's vision of providing safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections to all households The foundation stone will be laid. Under this scheme, a water treatment plant of 117 MLD will be built. The project, costing over Rs 2050 crore, will provide potable water to over 700 rural habitations and about 2.3 lakh households in three towns of the Yadgiri district.
During the event, the Prime Minister will also launch the Expansion, Reconstruction, and Modernization Project (NLBC-ERM) of the Narayanpur Left Bank Canal. The canal project with a capacity of 10,000 cusecs can irrigate 4.5 lakh hectares of command area. This will benefit more than three lakh farmers in 560 villages of Kalaburagi, Yadgiri, and Vijaypur districts. The total cost of the project is around Rs 4700 crore.
