RG Kar Case: CBI gets important evidence during the day-long raid! Will the noose tighten on the former principal of RG Kar?

The investigation into the rape and murder of a female doctor in West Bengal has intensified. In this case, the management of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has also been accused of corruption. In this connection, on Sunday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a 13-hour search at the house of the former principal of RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, Sandeep Ghosh. After that, CBI officials left late in the evening with many documents.

 

When asked by reporters if they have found any concrete evidence, a CBI official said that there is a lot.

What is the matter?

 

The medical college has been in the headlines since the alleged rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor in its conference room on August 9. Accused Sanjay Roy has been arrested in this case. On the instructions of the Calcutta High Court, the CBI has registered cases of murder as well as alleged financial irregularities.

 

Where were the raids conducted?

 

According to the information, the CBI on Sunday raided the premises of former principal of the college Sandip Ghosh, former Medical Superintendent cum Vice Principal (MSVP) Sanjay Vashisht, and 13 others in Kolkata in connection with the investigation of alleged financial irregularities in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. These include Dr. Debashish Som of the hospital's forensic department and RG Kar's supplier Biplav Singh. Apart from this, raids were conducted on the premises located nearby. The CBI's anti-corruption unit also raided the residences and offices of people associated with the supply of materials for the care and management of patients.

 

Many documents recovered

 

During the 13-hour search at Ghosh's house, the CBI seized many documents. An official said that sufficient evidence has been found. A team of seven CBI officials reached Sandip Ghosh's residence in Beliaghata, Kolkata at 8 am. The team came out at 8:46 pm. Other teams of the agency searched the house of Vashisht and other professors of the hospital and interrogated them. Late in the evening, the CBI team took Dr. Debashish from his house.

 

Had to wait for about one and a half hours

 

Officials said that the CBI team, which reached Ghosh's residence at around 6 am with a large contingent of central forces, had to wait for about one and a half hours, after which the former principal opened the door. Other officials of the central agency had gone to the house of a supplier in Howrah.

 

15 charges of corruption including fraud against Sandeep

 

The former additional superintendent of the hospital Akhtar Ali had earlier complained about financial irregularities to the Kolkata Police. When there was no solution, he approached the court. In the complaint letter, he mentioned a total of 15 irregularities. Apart from Sandeep Ghosh, Forensic Medicine Department officer Debashish Som and former Deputy Principal Sanjay Vashisht have also been named as the main accused. They are accused of illegal transactions, giving extra bills, fraud and not keeping accounts of expenses.

 

Polygraph test of two more along with accused Roy was conducted

A polygraph test of the main accused Sanjay Roy was conducted in Presidency Jail. His test was postponed on Saturday due to some technical problems. Sanjay Roy is lodged in Presidency Jail. Officials said that a polygraph test of two more people was also conducted at the CBI office on Sunday. A polygraph test of four people including Ghosh was conducted on Saturday. CBI had taken permission from the court to conduct a polygraph test of seven people including Roy and Ghosh. These also include four doctors who were on duty on the night of the incident.
