Aishwarya Rai won the Best Actress (Critics) award in the lead role at the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA 2024). She was given this award for Ponniyin Selvan 2. In this film, she played a double role (Nandini and Mandakini Devi). Aishwarya Rai was also heard giving a speech on this special occasion. After winning the award, Aishwarya Rai started her speech by thanking the South Indian International Movie Awards. She said that thank you very much for honoring me with the award. It means a lot to me because this film was very close to my heart. Ponniyin Selvan, which was directed by my guru Mani Ratnam. Being honored for my work as Nandini in this for Best Actress is really like celebrating the work of the entire team of the film.

Aishwarya also met actor Vikram, with whom she worked in Ponniyin Selvan. Vikram also took a picture with Aishwarya and Aaradhya.
