UGC NET: New dates of the UGC-NET exam announced, now exams will be held on these dates, format also changed

The National Examination Agency (NTA) has announced new dates for the UGC-NET 2024 exam. However, NTA has changed the format of the exam. Now this exam will be based on CBT (Computer Based Test) mode this year. Which was earlier to be held in pen and paper format.

 

Exams will be held between 21 August to 4 September

UGC NET exam will be conducted between 21 August to 4 September 2024. At the same time, the dates of 25-27 July 2024 have been fixed for the CSIR NET exam. Both these exams are important for candidates seeking lectureships and research fellowships in Indian universities and research institutes.

 

Why did the government cancel the UGC-NET exam?

The Ministry of Education said that based on the inputs received from the National Cyber ​​Crime Threat Analytics Unit of the Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Center, it was decided to cancel the UGC NET exam 2024. The input claimed that there was rigging in the exam. The new dates of the exam will be announced soon. The Ministry of Education said in a statement, 'To maintain the highest level of transparency and sanctity of the examination process, the Ministry of Education, Government of India has decided that the UGC-NET June 2024 exam is canceled. A new exam will be conducted and its information will be shared soon. The CBI will conduct a comprehensive investigation of the matter.' UGC-NET exam is required to become an Assistant Professor and Assistant Professor for a Junior Research Fellowship.

 

What is the National Testing Agency?

 

The National Testing Agency is an autonomous body that conducts entrance examinations for admission to higher educational institutions in the country. The National Testing Agency (NTA) also handles the responsibility of preparing the examination paper, distributing it to the examination center, and checking the examination paper. The central government announced it in the year 2017 and in December 2018, NTA conducted the first UGC-NET exam. Apart from UGC-NET, and NEET, NTA also conducts the engineering entrance exam Joint Entrance Examination (Main). Based on this exam, admissions are given to the country's top engineering institutes like IIT and NIT. However, after JEE Main, the JEE Advanced level exam is conducted and it is organized by IIT institutes based on a rotation system. Apart from these, NTA also conducts exams like CMAT and GPAT. CMAT is conducted for admission in management institutes of the country and GPAT is conducted for admission in masters program in pharmacy institutes.
