Politics has intensified over changing the names of places. Now Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav has targeted the Dhami government. Akhilesh, who is going to participate in the proceedings of the Lok Sabha, while talking to the news agency said- Uttarakhand should also be renamed Uttar Pradesh-2. The name of Uttar Pradesh should also be linked to Uttarakhand.'

Chief Minister Dhami said that various places are being renamed by public sentiment and Indian culture and heritage. In these, Ghat Nagar Panchayat was renamed as Nandanagar and Joshimath was renamed as Jyotirmath.
