Mohali court has sentenced Pastor Bajinder Singh, accused of raping a woman from Zirakpur in Mohali, Punjab, to life imprisonment. After being convicted by the court, the police took the pastor into custody. He is lodged in Patiala jail.
Pastor Bajinder Singh, named in the case of raping a woman, appeared in court on Monday. After that day's appearance, the court reserved the decision. His lawyer HS Dhanoa filed a petition against the pastor in the court and told the court that on March 3, Pastor Bajinder Singh was admitted to the hospital. Due to this, he could not appear in the court and a petition was filed in the court on his behalf for exemption from appearance. On the other hand, after hearing the arguments of the public prosecutor and the defense, the court canceled the non-bailable warrant of Bajinder Singh and fixed March 24 for the next hearing of this case.
The pastor has been arrested earlier in the case.
The police arrested Pastor Bajinder Singh when he reached Delhi airport to take a flight to attend a seminar being held in Birmingham city of England. A video of Pastor Bajinder Singh also went viral on social media, in which he is seen beating a woman. This video was from 14 February, which went viral on 16 March, in which the pastor was seen slapping a woman. In this video, the pastor threw a copy at the face of a woman sitting with a child. This woman used to work for the pastor.
The victim called herself a threat, and sought protection.
After the pastor was convicted, the victim came in front of the media. The victim had alleged that the guilty pastor Bajinder Singh is a psycho. If he comes out of jail, he will commit a crime again. That is why I want him to remain in jail forever. The victim said I am very happy with this decision of the court. This is not my victory alone. Today many girls (victims) have won. Now many people will come forward. Many girls and boys will also be freed from the clutches of Bajinder Singh. I am happy with this decision. The victim has requested the DGP Punjab to provide security to me and my husband. Because in the coming time there can be attacks on us. Therefore our safety should be ensured. Not only this, many false cases can also be registered against me and my family, because many such cases have been registered against us earlier also.
