Congress Vs BJP: Congress did not condemn Hamas because..., Assam Chief Minister cornered Rahul Gandhi

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday accused the Congress. Sarma said the Congress did not condemn Hamas and announced its support for Palestine on the insistence of party leader Rahul Gandhi with an eye on the upcoming assembly elections in Telangana.

Sarma also said that there is no unity among the constituents of the newly formed Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) and that it was formed only to "deceive the people" of India.

Hamas issue discussed in CWC meeting

He told reporters here, see (recently) a CWC meeting was held. The issue of Hamas was discussed there. Everyone in the meeting said that it is necessary to condemn Hamas at this time. But Rahul Gandhi said that elections are coming in Telangana so we should support Palestine. I am telling you the inside story of CWC. After this, this proposal was passed.

In its last meeting on October 9, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) reiterated its support for the Palestinian cause without mentioning the horrific attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7.

The Assam chief minister, who was in the Congress for more than two decades before joining the BJP in 2015, pointed out that there was "not a single word" about Hamas in the CWC resolution.

Rahul Gandhi only supported Palestine- Sarma

They could have been balanced by saying that we condemn Hamas but at the same time we stand by India's stand of supporting an independent Palestine, he said. But he did not do so.

Sarma said that strict action should be taken against terrorism but Congress, due to its appeasement politics, is not saying anything against terrorism even though India is a victim of terrorism.

He said it was sad. The country's oldest party, Congress, should have openly condemned Hamas. At the same time, they can say that we support Palestine. That is a different issue. Since Congress is eyeing the vote bank of Owaisi (Hyderabad MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi), it is supporting Hamas.

Rahul Gandhi should go to Gaza and ride a bike- Sarma

The Chief Minister said that since Rahul Gandhi is a biker, there is a possibility that he may someday go to Gaza and ride a bike or ride a tractor there.

Asked about NCP chief Sharad Pawar's alleged criticism of the government for standing with Israel despite India's long-term support to Palestine, Sarma said some people in India are giving a clean chit to Hamas because they Can't see anything beyond appeasement.

He said, even Hamas is not condemning Israel the way some people in India are condemning Israel. Even Hamas has admitted that it made a mistake. Hamas knows that they have kidnapped children and it is a sin.
