CSK vs GT: Gujarat captain Shubman fined lakhs of rupees, made this mistake in the match against Chennai

Posted on 27th Mar 2024 01:03 pm by rohit kumar

Gujarat Titans captain Shubhman Gill was fined Rs 12 lakh for slow over-rate during the match against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday. An IPL statement said that this was his team's first offense of the season under the IPL Code of Conduct related to minimum over rate. Therefore, a fine of Rs 12 lakh was imposed on Gill.

Chennai beat GT by 63 runs

The Gill-led team suffered its first defeat in IPL 2024 on Tuesday. In the match played in Chepauk, defending champion Chennai Super Kings defeated GT by 63 runs. Shubman Gill's Gujarat Titans, captaining an IPL franchise for the first time, won by six runs against Mumbai Indians in their first match.

Shubman's statement after the match

After the match, Shubman said- When we were batting, CSK defeated us with their strategy. His performance was brilliant. We were backing ourselves to get a good score in the powerplay. Once we couldn't do that, we were playing to get the run rate up. It was unfortunate for us. On this wicket, we were expecting to chase 190-200. I think this is a very good lesson for the bowlers. I think it is better to have a match like this at the beginning of the tournament rather than in the middle or late. We had always expected to chase 190-200. It was a really good wicket. It felt like we let ourselves down while batting.

Regarding his captaincy, Shubman said- I am learning a lot of new things. I'm looking forward to new experiences and different things. It is exciting to captain a team like Gujarat Titans. We have made the finals in the last few years, so it is very exciting.

What happened in the match?

Earlier, 10 months ago, they were defeated by Mumbai Indians by 27 runs at Wankhede. Chennai has broken Mumbai's record. CSK's next match is against Delhi Capitals on March 31 in Visakhapatnam.
