Officials said that the encounter started when the soldiers of the National Rifles and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police started a joint cordon and search operation in Dhari Gote Urarbagi of Desa forest area at around 7.45 pm.
The Army's White Knight Corps wrote in a post on Twitter, "Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation by the Army and Police was underway in the general area north of Doda. Contact was established with the terrorists at around 9 pm, after which heavy firing took place. Additional troops were sent to the area.
