Tension has prevailed in many places due to the provocative slogans raised in the processions taken out across the country on Muharram. In Srinagar, Jammu, and Kashmir, people waved Palestine flags and raised slogans against Israel and America. Palestine flag was waved in Nawada, Bihar, while in Amethi, UP, the youth participating in the procession raised the slogan 'If we want to live in Hindustan, then we should have to have Hussain'.
During the procession in Samastipur, Bihar, miscreants attacked a family with a sword while they were passing by in a car, in which the couple and their son were injured. After the phase of terrorist violence started in Kashmir, the administration partially banned the Muharram procession.

Last year, as per the instructions of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, for the first time, the procession of 8th Muharram passed through the entire traditional route. This year also the administration gave permission for it, but the procession was not scheduled during the day but in the morning and the organizers had assured that there would be no provocative slogans in the procession.

The procession started from Guru Bazar at 5:30 am. Hundreds of Shia devotees participated in the procession. Remembering the martyrs of Karbala, the procession of Shia mourners passed through the designated route. No one raised any anti-India or pro-Pakistan slogans in the procession, but slogans like Israel Boycott, America Boycott, and Palestine Martyrs, we are with you, were heard. Palestine flags were also waved.
Objectionable and provocative slogan raised in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh
When the Muharram procession taken out in Musafirkhana town of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday reached in front of the police station, the youth raised the slogan 'Hindustan me rehna hai to ya Hussain kahna hai'. The video of the objectionable and provocative slogan was widely circulated on the internet media on Sunday evening. The police registered a case against several unidentified people. Attack on family in Samastipur
