IPL 2023: Dhoni threatens to leave the captaincy of CSK! Told the bowlers – stop throwing no ball-wide or else…

In the sixth match of IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings defeated Lucknow Supergiants by 12 runs. Despite scoring 217 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs, the Chennai team could not win by a big margin and while chasing the target, Lucknow also scored 205 runs losing seven wickets in 20 overs. Chennai's fast bowlers looted a lot of runs. No ball-wide also contributed a lot to this. Chennai bowlers threw 13 wides and three no-balls. All three no-balls were bowled by Tushar Deshpande, who came on the field as Chennai's impact player. Angered by these extra runs, Dhoni has warned to leave the captaincy of CSK.

What did Dhoni say about the captaincy?

Dhoni said in the post-match show – It was a great high-scoring match. We were all wondering what the wicket would be like. It was a perfect first match at this ground. I thought the pitch would be very slow, but it was a wicket where you could score runs. I was quite surprised by this wicket, but we have to see if we can build on this kind of wicket after the match. We need to improve a bit in fast bowling. Our fast bowlers need to bowl according to the conditions. The important thing is to watch what the opposition bowlers are doing, so our fast bowlers can learn what not to do. Another thing is that they don't have to bowl any no balls or extra wides, or they will have to play inside the new captain. This will be my second warning and then I will step down from the captaincy. The only reason we scored runs is that the surface is good.
