West Bengal Violence Once again an incident of violence has come to the fore in the Hooghly district of West Bengal. The situation turned tense late in the night when a group of people started hurling large crude bombs at the railway gate near Rishra railway station. Some miscreants pelted stones at trains passing through the railway track and set a vehicle on fire near the station.

train service suspended

The latest incident of stone pelting took place at Rishra railway station in Hooghly, due to which all local and mail express train services had to be suspended for some time. Kosik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer of Easter Railway, said that all local and mail express train services were suspended on the Howrah-Bardhaman main line for the safety of the general public. However, now the service has been restored.

At the same time, West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose has left for Kolkata after canceling his program in Darjeeling after receiving information about fresh violence in Hooghly last night.

The violence started during Shobha Yatra at Ramnavni

According to sources, police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident or violence. The incident comes a day after clashes broke out during the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) procession on the occasion of Ram Navani in Hooghly on Sunday. The state government later issued prohibitory orders and also suspended internet services across the district.

Earlier on Thursday, several vehicles were torched in a clash between two groups in Howrah amid Ram Navami celebrations. During the procession, rioters vandalized public and private properties and set vehicles on fire. Following the violence, the Mamata government on Friday handed over its probe to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Suvendu Adhikari taunted

BJP and Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Legislative Assembly Suvendu Adhikari reacted to the latest incident of stone pelting at Rishra station in Hooghly district late at night. Suvendu said Rishra is burning and the entire state administration is enjoying a beach holiday in 'Digha'.
