Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by 59 runs. With this, Mumbai became the fourth team to reach the playoffs of IPL 2025. Earlier, Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings had qualified for the playoffs. Mumbai, who came to bat after losing the toss in the match played at Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday, scored 180 runs for the loss of five wickets based on Suryakumar Yadav's half-century innings. In reply, Delhi could score only 121 runs in 18.2 overs and were all out. For Mumbai, Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Santner took three wickets each, while Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Will Jacks, and Karn Sharma took one wicket each.

By defeating Delhi, Mumbai has directly qualified for the playoffs. However, both teams still have one match each left in the group stage. Delhi Capitals will face Punjab Kings on May 24 (Saturday), while Mumbai Indians will face Punjab Kings on May 26 (Monday). Both these matches will be played in Jaipur.

Delhi's batting order fell apart like a pack of cards.

Chasing the target, Delhi was disappointed by its batsmen. Sameer Rizvi scored the highest 39 runs for them. Apart from this, only three batsmen were able to touch the double-digit mark. These include KL Rahul (11), Vipraj Nigam (20), and Ashutosh Sharma (18). In the match against Mumbai, the team's regular captain Akshar Patel did not play due to ill health. In his place, Faf du Plessis led Delhi. He could score only six runs. Apart from this, Abhishek Porel scored six, Tristan Stubbs scored two, Madhav Tiwari scored three, and Kuldeep Yadav scored seven runs. At the same time, Mustafizur Rahman could not even open the account, while Dushmantha Chameera remained unbeaten after scoring eight runs.

Mumbai's innings

Earlier, Mumbai had a bad start. Former captain Rohit Sharma was out after scoring just five runs. After this, Jacks and Ryan Rickelton tried to take charge, but Jacks was dismissed after scoring 21 runs in 13 balls, while Rickelton could score only 25 runs. Tilak Verma scored 27 and Hardik Pandya scored three runs. At the same time, Suryakumar Yadav played an unbeaten innings of 73 runs with the help of seven fours and six sixes in 43 balls. Apart from this, Naman Dheer scored 24 runs in eight balls with the help of two fours and as many sixes and remained unbeaten. Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dheer scored 48 runs in the last 12 balls.
