History of Doctor's Day

Celebrating Doctor's Day in the country started on 1 July 1991. The day is celebrated in honor of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a renowned physician educationist and the second Chief Minister of Bengal. He was born on 1 July 1882 in Patna, Bihar. In 1976, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna Award. Every year July 1 is celebrated as 'Doctors Day' to honor all their contributions.
