How is PM Modi's security ensured in America and other countries?

During Prime Minister Modi's foreign tour, the primary responsibility of providing him security usually lies with the top intelligence and government agencies of that country. However, this does not mean that Indian agencies do not have any role there. Rather, the agencies have to make extra preparations to protect the Indian PM from potential threats in the unknown environment of a foreign country.

When the Prime Minister of India goes on a foreign tour, 100 to 150 commandos of the Special Protection Group (SPG) remain with him for his security. But this arrangement keeps changing according to the sensitivity and complexities of the place of visit. The primary responsibility of providing security to foreign heads of state in America lies with the 'Secret Service' - the agency that provides security to the American President. The work of this agency is mainly similar to that of the SPG.

First, know - what is the role of R&AW and IB?

After the foreign tour of the Prime Minister of India is confirmed, the officers associated with R&AW and IB reach America first. According to the schedule of the PM, these officers inspect the places where the Prime Minister's visit is scheduled. The security officers also try to sense the threats arising at these places and gather necessary information by hiding their identity.

Due to the high-security standards in America, the security personnel associated with Indian intelligence agencies have to limit their analysis. They are not allowed to investigate every area without hindrance. However, despite this, other agencies like the Secret Service of America and the FBI provide additional help to the Indian intelligence agencies in this work.

What is the responsibility of IB in the security of Prime Minister Modi?

On the other hand, the teams of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) remain in touch with the Indian Embassy, Consulates, and local authorities in America. The IB reviews the situation with the local security forces in the area visited by the Prime Minister and monitors the demonstrations or gatherings during the PM's visit. IB agents also coordinate with the domestic security agencies of America (Secret Service-FBI).

A plan is ready to deal with every situation.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to America, the commandos of the SPG remain with him like a shadow. Even the fleets going from one place to another include SPG personnel along with local agencies. A joint plan is also prepared in advance among these agencies to deal with every situation.
