Big changes are again visible in the coronavirus. Except for XBB, the rest of the forms of Corona are now disappearing. These include other subspecies of Omicron, which have increased infections in the past months.

According to INSACOG's weekly review report, in the past few weeks, changes are visible in the forms of the virus circulating in different states. Their information is coming to the fore in genome sequencing of infection samples. The same format, known as the XBB sub-format, has been airing since February in most states of the country. Although, one or two more forms of corona are visible in the North Eastern states, on a large scale only the XBB form is there.

Experts believe that genome sequencing is steadily decreasing in the country. INSACOG estimation is based on the same sequencing. In such a situation, the future situation cannot be speculated but based on this report, it can be said that the coronavirus is slowly coming under control. Dr. Vinod Scaria, the senior scientist at the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), wrote on social media that INSACOG's assessment is based on a small number of genome sequencing.

no effect on serious cases

A senior official of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) says that for the past several months, the epidemic has not seen a major impact on public health. The number of patients admitted to the hospitals has also not increased. In the weeks after January this year, the number of infected has increased in some places, but there is no change in the figures for serious cases.

All disappeared in Central and South India

INSACOG's report states that all forms of corona are missing in the states of Central, West, and South India. Here only the XBB form has been confirmed in 100% samples since last February. At the same time, XBB has been found in 50 percent of the samples in the northeastern states and BA.2.75 in the remaining 50. Both of these belong to the Omicron family. Their impact on public health has also been considered serious. Apart from these, XBB as well as BQ sub-forms are also found in patients in North India.
