With the victory of Team India under Gill's captaincy, Sunil Gavaskar's record made in Auckland in 1976 was also broken. Then Gavaskar was 26 years and 202 days old when he led the team to victory against New Zealand.

So far, Gill has scored 585 runs in two Tests, with an average of 146.25. Now he is moving towards Don Bradman's 90-year-old record - 974 runs in a series.
