New Zealand has suffered a major setback in its ongoing ODI series against India, with opening batter Devon Conway ruled out of the remaining four matches after sustaining a concussion during a training session.

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) confirmed on November 6 that Conway would not take part in the remaining four matches. Left-handed batter Nick Kelly has been called into the squad as his replacement.

Conway suffered the injury during a fielding practice session at Eden Park in Auckland on November 3, when he collided with fast bowler Matt Henry while attempting to take a catch. Both players received immediate medical attention and underwent head injury assessments. Conway was subsequently taken to hospital for further examination, which confirmed a concussion.

Nick Kelly Called Up for Remaining India ODIs

New Zealand Cricket has added Nick Kelly to its ODI squad following Conway's withdrawal. Kelly was initially selected for the fourth and fifth matches of the series but will now join the team earlier than planned.

Kelly will assemble with the squad in Wellington on Friday and will be available for selection for Saturday's second ODI against India.

The left-handed batter's inclusion provides New Zealand with another option in the top order as the hosts attempt to recover from their defeat in the series opener.

Matt Henry Cleared After Training Collision

New Zealand have received encouraging news regarding fast bowler Matt Henry, who was also involved in the training collision with Conway.

Henry underwent a concussion assessment following the incident. NZ Cricket subsequently confirmed that he had been cleared of concussion and was available for selection for the second ODI.

His availability could strengthen New Zealand's bowling attack as the team prepares to face India in Wellington.

Dale Phillips Added to New Zealand A Squad

Following Kelly's promotion to the senior ODI squad, Auckland Aces batter Dale Phillips has been added to the New Zealand A team.

Phillips will replace Kelly in the squad for the final four-day unofficial Test against India A, which begins on Saturday.

The change ensures New Zealand A have an additional batting option for the fixture while Kelly joins the senior team for the ODI series.

India Lead ODI Series 1-0

India began the five-match ODI series with a five-wicket victory over New Zealand in a rain-affected contest at Eden Park on Wednesday, November 4.

The hosts were bowled out for 185 before India chased a revised target of 143 in 32 overs, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

The second ODI will be played at Hnry Stadium in Wellington on Saturday, November 7. New Zealand will look to level the series, while India will aim to extend their advantage.

Conway's absence leaves New Zealand with a significant top-order selection challenge. Kelly's early inclusion and Henry's medical clearance, however, provide the hosts with fresh options ahead of the Wellington encounter.
