The third Test between India and Australia will be played from March 1 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. India is ahead 2-0 in the series after winning 2 matches of the 4-match series. By winning the third Test, Team India will win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth time in a row. At the same time, Australia would like to win this match and register its second win in India in 19 years.

While India will field with its full-strength team, Kangaroo team captain Pat Cummins has gone to Australia due to family reasons. In his place, vice-captain Steve Smith will take charge of the team. In the following story, we will look at the head-to-head record of both teams, pitch report, weather conditions, and top performers of the series.

Smith will captain in place of Cummins

Australia captain Pat Cummins returned to Australia due to family reasons. He will not play the third test. In his place, vice-captain Steve Smith will take charge of the team. Team management can include Mitchell Starc in the team in place of Cummins. Starc's bowling record in India is nothing special, but he has scored 263 runs in 4 Tests here with the bat. Bowling got him only 7 wickets during this period.

Dominating Team India in India

Team India has always been performing brilliantly in Tests at home. Against Australia also 52 matches were played between the two at home. India won 23 and Australia won 13. One match ended in a tie and 15 were drawn. There was no Test match between the two in Indore, but India played 2 matches here and won both.

Overall 104 Tests have been played between the two teams. India won in 32 and Australia in 43. One match was tied and 28 were also drawn.

pitch report

The pitch at Holkar Stadium in Indore is considered batting-friendly. 2 Tests have been played here so far, and both India scored a lot in the first innings. Team India scored 557 against New Zealand and 493 against Bangladesh. The Kiwi team could dismiss 5 and the Bangladeshi team only 6 batters of India. Virat Kohli against New Zealand and Mayank Agarwal scored a double-century against Bangladesh.

Indore is expected to get a batting-friendly pitch once again. While the batters will get help on the first 2 days, the pitch will break from the 3rd day onwards and the spinners could get a lot of help in the last 2 days.

weather condition

On March 1, the temperature in Indore will be between 19 to 33 degrees. There will be no rain and it will be sunny for all five days. With the cold almost over, the fast bowlers are unlikely to get any help in the morning.

Rohit series top run scorer

Talking about the top performers of the series, the bowlers are at the top. But, in terms of scoring the most runs, India's captain Rohit Sharma did a brilliant batting. He has the highest number of 183 runs in 2 matches of the series. These include a century as well. Axar Patel is in second place with 158 runs. Marnus Labushen from Australia has scored the highest 119 runs.

Kangaroo could not overcome Jadeja-Ashwin

In the first 2 Tests, India's Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin did not allow the Kangaroo batsmen to play freely. Jadeja took 17 wickets in 2 matches of the series, while Ashwin took 14 wickets. Todd Murphy, who made his debut in this series from Australia, is the team's top wicket-taker with 10 wickets. Nathan Lyon follows him with 8 wickets.
