A new strain of coronavirus has also reached India. Here six viruses have been found in this virus. All of them had recently returned from Britain. Three of these samples were sent to institutes in Bangalore, two in Hyderabad, and one in Pune. In these, new strains were confirmed in each sample of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. It is not known where the other three patients are from.
All these were kept in single room isolation in the Covid Center of the state government in the respective states. People exposed to them have also been quarantined. Other people who came in contact with the new infected are also being traced. Between November 25 and December 23, around 33,000 travelers from Britain arrived in India. Of these 114 people be corona positive so far. New genomes are being detected in some more samples.
Maharashtra government said - no case of a new strain in the state
The new mutants of Corona found in Britain have no patients in Maharashtra so far. Maharashtra Surveillance Officer, Epidemiology Department, Dr. Pradeep Awate said that so far the state has been spared from the new variant of Corona. In the past, 30 positives have come out of those who have returned from the UK. No new strain has been found in any of them.
Two new variants of Corona found in Britain
So far, two more dangerous variants of the coronavirus have been found in Britain. Only after the first variant was found, on 21 December, the Government of India banned flights coming from Britain. The ban was imposed from 11.59 pm on December 22 to 11.59 pm on December 31. Those who arrived in India from earlier flights were tested RT-PCR at the airport itself.
The new form of the virus spreads 70% faster
Mutations occur continuously in the virus, that is, its properties change. Most variants end up by mutation on their own, but sometimes it becomes many times stronger and more dangerous than before. This process happens so fast that scientists do not even understand one form and a new form comes out. Scientists estimate that the new form of coronavirus found in Britain can spread 70% faster than before.
Which countries found a new strain?
The new strain of coronavirus was first discovered in Britain. Apart from Britain, cases of this new strain have been reported in India, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Australia, Canada, Japan, Lebanon, Singapore, and Nigeria. On the other hand, a new strain of coronavirus has also been found in South Africa. This is different from the new strain in Britain.
What is the mutation? Does the virus have mutation normal?
Mutations mean changes in the genetic material of an organism. When a virus makes millions of copies of itself and goes from human to human or from animal to human, every copy is different. This difference in copy increases. After some time, a new strain comes out suddenly.
This is a very common process. Viruses keep changing their form. Seasonal influenza emerges as new every year. Because of this, scientists are not too surprised about the new variants of Covid-19. Novel coronavirus was revealed in Wuhan (China). It killed more than a million people in a year. Many mutations have also occurred in this virus.
