The government has said that no proposal to set up the 8th Central Pay Commission for its employees is under consideration. Till now it was believed that after the implementation of the 8th Central Pay Commission, the salary of the employees would be revised and other facilities including DA would be available. What the government said: Actually, the question was asked in the Lok Sabha whether the central government proposes to ensure the timely formation of the 8th Central Pay Commission for its employees. In response, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that there is no such proposal.
Seven Pay Commissions have been constituted since 1947. The Center sets up a Pay Commission after every 10 years to revise the pay structure of government employees. The first Pay Commission of India was established in January 1946. The constitutional structure of the Pay Commission comes under the Department of Expenditure (Ministry of Finance).
