What the government said: Actually, the question was asked in the Lok Sabha whether the central government proposes to ensure the timely formation of the 8th Central Pay Commission for its employees. In response, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that there is no such proposal.

The first Pay Commission of India was established in January 1946. The constitutional structure of the Pay Commission comes under the Department of Expenditure (Ministry of Finance).
