Adelaide, Feb 15 (IANS) The long-standing cricket rivalry between India and Pakistan Sunday triggered a social media frenzy, with '#IndvsPak' one of top trending hashtags on Twitter.
The hashtag was trending in the third position in worldwide trends while in India it was in the second place.
Many former cricketers from around the world took to the social media platform.
Former India opener Aakash Chopra and Australian pacer Glenn McGrath felt that India had made a good start and expected the defending champions to score more than 300 runs in the World Cup.
"So far in this World Cup, (the) team batting first has scored in excess of 330... fourth team is on course for that," Chopra tweeted.
"India looking good to set target well over 300," McGrath posted.
Bollywood actress Sonal Chauhan congratulated Virat Kohli for hitting a century.
"Wellll donee @imVkohli!!!#BleedBlue," she tweeted. "Sitting here we're under so much pressure!! I can only imagine what tremendous pressure these boys must be under!!! #BleedBlue."
Tweeted former India spinner Anil Kumble: "Ideally double the score from this stage. It's pretty doable these days. Great platform built by @SDhawan25."
Australian pacer Brett Lee, on commentary duty for the India-Pakistan clash, shared a picture of the crowd at the Adelaide Oval Sunday.
"Morning followers. Off to Adelaide for the massive game between India and Pakistan," tweeted legendary leg-spinner Shane Warne.
India won the toss and elected to bat and looked on course to post a big score.
