In the Nikki death case that took place in the Thana Kasna area of Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar district, the police have arrested the absconding brother-in-law and father-in-law. On Monday, the police first caught the brother-in-law, and shortly after that, the father-in-law was also arrested. The police arrested brother-in-law Rohit Bhati, who was wanted in the case of burning a married woman to death, from near Sirsa Toll Chauraha. The accused has been absconding since the incident. The police had earlier arrested the accused husband, Vipin Bhati, in this case. After this, mother-in-law Daya was also arrested. The mother-in-law will be sent to judicial custody today.
At the same time, with the help of confidential information, absconding father-in-law Satyaveer (55) has been arrested near Sirsa Chauraha. The accused has been absconding since the incident. The National Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognizance of the matter and sent a letter to the DGP of Uttar Pradesh.
The commission has directed the immediate arrest of all the accused and to submit a detailed action report within three days. It has also asked to ensure a fair investigation and the safety of the victim's family.
The husband who burnt his wife alive got shot in an encounter, mother who came to see him was also arrested
Earlier, on Sunday, husband Vipin Bhati, accused of burning his wife Nikki alive, was injured in a police encounter. After arresting the accused, Kasna Kotwali police of Greater Noida took him to Sirsa village to recover the inflammable substance (thinner) on his indication.
At the same time, his mother and the accused Daya, who came to see the injured Vipin, were also arrested by the police. The court has sent Vipin to 14 days' judicial custody. Police said, accused Vipin was arrested through an informer's information and electronic surveillance.
The police had taken him to a farm at 12 noon on Sunday to recover the inflammable substance. Then, near the Sirsa intersection, the accused took out the pistol from Jim's outpost in charge of Daroga Varun and fired two bullets and ran away. Police also retaliated. The accused fell there after being shot in the leg.
Police admitted the injured Vipin to the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (JIMS). A small bottle of flammable substance and the pistol snatched from the police inspector have been recovered from the spot.
Husband Vipin said, no regrets
Accused Vipin said in Dharda Hospital that he has no regrets about his wife's death. He said, I did not kill her. She died on her own. Husbands and wives often have fights; this is very common.
Allegation, 35 lakh dowry was demanded, Nikki was burnt
Nikki (27) of Roopwas village of Dadri was married to Vipin of Sirsa village in December 2016. Nikki's elder sister, Kanchan, is married to Vipin's brother. Father Bhikari Singh alleges that the in-laws used to harass Nikki for demanding 35 lakh rupees as dowry. On Thursday evening, Vipin, along with his mother Daya, burnt Nikki.

Bhikari Singh, a resident of Roopbas village of Dadri police station area of Greater Noida, said that his daughter Kanchan (29) and Nikki (27) were married in December 2016 to Rohit and his brother Vipin, residents of Sirsa village, according to Hindu customs. The Scorpio car and all the goods were given in the marriage, but after the marriage, the in-laws started demanding Rs 35 lakh.
Since the marriage, husband Vipin Bhati, brother-in-law Rohit Bhati, mother-in-law Daya, and father-in-law Satyaveer were constantly demanding an additional dowry of Rs 35 lakh. The victim's family even gave another bullet to meet the demand of the accused, but the harassment continued. The in-laws used to beat both the sisters. Several times, a settlement was reached through the panchayat. But the accused did not agree to the settlement.
On the other hand, deceased Nikki's elder sister Kanchan alleges that on Thursday evening at around 5:30 pm, her mother-in-law Daya and brother-in-law Vipin together carried out the incident. It is alleged that mother-in-law Daya took a flammable substance in her hand and handed it over to Vipin. Vipin poured it on the victim's sister, Nikki. Also attacked the sister's neck. She was brutally beaten. After which her sister fainted. The accused burnt her alive.
