Not only are private coaching centers charging huge amounts from students, but many other questions are also being raised. There is a demand to rein them in. In such a situation, the Union Education Minister, while answering a question in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, made it clear that the government wants to bring students out of the world of coaching centers and every legal and social effort will be made for this. In this, the government 'Saathi' (Self Assessment, Test and Help of Entrance Exam) will be effective.
Any student can register.
He said that through this, free online coaching is being made available for students preparing for competitive exams like JEE Main, NEET-UG, and SSC, in which professors of IIT, IIM, and AIIMS will not only teach but will also be available online to help them. Any student will be able to study by registering for this.
Free online coaching of SSC started.
Free online coaching of SSC for JEE Main, JEE-Advanced, NEET-UG, and the exam conducted for the selection of Grade-2 and Grade-3 category employees of central services has been started. Soon, there are plans to include CLET, the exam related to admission in law institutes, CAT, the exam related to admission in management institutes and CUET, the exam related to admission in universities. More than 50 lakh students in the country participate in all these exams every year. In such a situation, this initiative is a big help for all these students.
The enthusiasm of the government in this direction has increased when this year they got great success in JEE Main coaching. More than 12 hundred students studying through this qualified.
Help from teachers of top institutions is being taken.
According to a senior official of the Ministry of Education associated with the Saathi project, in the coming days, there are plans to pit it against private online coaching. In which the help of teachers of the country's top institutions like IIT, NIT, IIM, and AIIMS is being taken. Their subject-based videos and lectures are being prepared and uploaded.
Students will not have to pay a hefty amount.
It is available in languages like English, and Hindi as well as Tamil, Kannada, and Urdu. This initiative is also considered useful for the students because there is no doubt in the qualification of the teacher teaching it, secondly, students will not have to pay a hefty amount for it like private coaching.
Students can also join this coaching through these mediums.
For the convenience of competitive students, the Ministry of Education is making the government online coaching Saathi available through a web portal as well as a mobile app, YouTube, DTH channel, etc. For those students who do not have facilities like internet, this facility is being provided at the Common Service Center (CSC) of Gram Panchayats.
The Ministry has also signed an agreement with CSC regarding this. At present, more than ten thousand hours of study material has been provided on the Saathi platform. More than six hundred mentors have been added for this. At the same time, one and a half lakh students have been registered with it so far.
