The Supreme Court is likely to pronounce its verdict today on the interim bail granted to Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera, who made a controversial statement against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On February 28, the Assam and Uttar Pradesh governments sought time from the court to file their replies. After which CJI Chandrachud had given time till March 3.

3 FIRs have been registered against Pawan Kheda for his controversial statement on PM Modi in UP-Assam. On February 23, Assam Police arrested Kheda from the Delhi airport for giving a controversial statement.

Controversial statement: Said on Hindenburg Report in Delhi on February 20, 'When Atal Bihari Vajpayee can form JPC then what is the problem with Narendra Gautamdas Modi'. Even though the name is Damodar Das. His work is of Gautamdas. However, later he clarified that he was confused about the name of the Prime Minister.

FIR at 3 places: After this statement, a case was registered against Pawan Kheda for communal disturbance and national security at Haflong in the Dima Hasao district of Assam. FIR was registered in Varanasi and Lucknow of UP. BJP MLC Mukesh Sharma lodged an FIR at Hazratganj police station in Lucknow.

Arrested before going to Raipur: On February 23, while going from Delhi to Raipur for the Pawan Kheda party convention, the Assam Police had taken Kheda off the flight and arrested him. After the arrest, the Congress leaders staged a sit-in at the airport for two hours.

Petition in the Supreme Court: On the petition of Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the Supreme Court, giving relief to Kheda, ordered interim bail till February 28 and clubbed all three FIRs in one place. 30 thousand bonds were also filled.

CJI's advice to Kheda: CJI had said- We have given you protection (from arrest), but there should be some level of rhetoric. On this, Kheda's lawyer Singhvi said - We also do not support such statements.

Statement after bail: Pawan Kheda said, 'Assam police arrested me illegally. I was neither given any prior information nor received any notice regarding the arrest. I have full faith in the judiciary, which protected my freedom of speech today. The matter is in court, so I will not comment.

Who is Pawan Kheda who gave a controversial statement

Pawan Khera was born on 31 July 1968 in Delhi. He studied at Delhi University. Khera started his political career at the age of 21. He was the political secretary of Sheila Dixit, who was the CM of Delhi for many years.

Pawan Kheda directly joined the Congress in 2013 as soon as the Congress government was removed from Delhi. He started participating in the debates on news channels on behalf of Congress. The Congress first appointed Pawan Khera as the national spokesperson and then appointed him as the chairman of the media and publicity cell in the party's communications department.

Pawan Kheda said- Hindutva is not only an issue of the country, therefore it is not of Congress either.

While discussing with the media at the 85th National Convention of the Congress, Pawan Kheda, Chairman of the Congress Communications Department, spoke openly on this. He said that every time the BJP enters the fray on the issue of Hindutva, it forgets the real issue of the country. This is not the issue of the country, therefore it is not our issue either.
