There was an uproar over the distribution of free Bibles at the ongoing World Book Fair at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The video of the incident which took place on Wednesday has gone viral on social media. According to reports, this bookstall belonged to the Christian non-profit organization Gideons International.

In the viral video, some people are seen raising slogans and demanding to stop the distribution of free Bibles. The protesters later sat there raising slogans. Later, security and police personnel intervened and removed them from there.

The protesters kept calling themselves members of the Hindu United Front

In the video, a protesting member was claiming to be the Delhi chief of Khadu's Hindu United Front. Some people present with him started arguing with the stall volunteers. Later these people started raising slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Jai Shri Ram, and Har Har Mahadev.

Vishva Hindu Parishad said – Those opposing did not join us directly

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has denied its involvement in the protest. A statement said that Christian groups and missionaries trap Hindus. The protesting members were not directly associated with us. It is not a matter of distributing free books, it is a question of mindset.

Book fair happening after two years

The New Delhi World Book Fair is happening after two years in the Corona era. It has started from 25 February. Which will run till March 5. Gideons International has not commented on the matter after the incident. However, the police say that no violence was reported in the protest. Nor did the news of the tearing of any book come.
