'Political enmity with Atiq Ahmed is nonsense, Yogi government is adopting zero-tolerance policy against mafias'

The kind of campaign that was being run by the Yogi government for the last 5-6 years to break the back of the mafia in Uttar Pradesh, the incident of Umesh Pal's murder was in a way a challenge to that policy. The state government is talking about ending the mafia, so the criminals are trying to show that our system is still intact.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while replying to the Governor's address in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, had said that 'I will mix this mafia system in the soil'. This is his very clear message that fear should not be in the minds of common people but in the minds of the mafia, goons, and miscreants. The rule of law should be established. Being afraid of the law is a good thing, but being afraid of the mafia and goons is a bad thing.

The action that has taken place within 48-72 hours indicates the establishment of the rule of law. It also became clear from this that the government has a zero-tolerance policy against this type of organized crime. The way the action has been taken, it is clear from this that if people associated with organized crime indulge in such acts, then they should be prepared to bear the brunt of it.

The entire ecosystem of Atiq Ahmed is under attack by the government and security agencies. Now the investigation of ED has also started. Since a money laundering case was also registered against Atiq in 2021. His two sons have been arrested. Two are also lodged in jail and one is absconding. The whole family understood that they have made a mistake. One thing that became very clear from the way he carried out this incident was that he was challenging the patience of the government and the police and was also challenging the anti-mafia policy of this government. Now the government has given its answer.

You cannot eliminate the mafia which has been there for decades so easily and in such a short time. But the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has broken the backbone of organized crime. His entire economic empire has been destroyed. Taking action against them on such a large scale, confiscating their properties, auctioning and destroying their illegal properties by using bulldozers, such action had never happened before in the history of Uttar Pradesh. Never before has a campaign against the organized mafia been launched like this.

Crime never ends forever anywhere in the world. The test of the government is what it does after the crime. It acts as a deterrent in a way and it is a message to other criminals that if they do this then the result will be the same. That's why you saw that in the last five-six years, 100-200 cases came to light, in which the criminals reached the police station with a placard around their necks asking them to arrest them. Many of the accused got their bail canceled and then surrendered at the police station. This is the fear of rule of law and if there is fear of the law then the common man will be safe and if there is fear of goon then the common man will feel insecure.

This means trying to give a message that the mafia should be careful. This government is not ready to forgive anyone associated with the mafia and the vehicle that overturned in Vikas Dubey's encounter is being used as a metaphor that if you do this, the vehicle may overturn. This means the car itself doesn't need to be overturned. This means that the same kind of action can be taken against you. The government is giving this message that we do not tolerate such acts. We will not tolerate this type of crime. We will try to crush this type of crime in every possible way.

This question arises in the mind of many people how will someone's house be demolished with a bulldozer in this way? The government knows this very well. This government is taking action according to the law. It is worth noting that there were so many cases, there was no adverse reaction from any court, and no decision came because most of their properties were created by illegal encroachment. Made without getting the map passed. That's why it is easy for the government to take action. No one can even raise a legal question on that why you took such action. There is a sufficient legal basis to demolish it.

I do not see any case of political enmity in this because the political legacy of Atiq Ahmed has ended many years ago. He has no political status because of his being in jail. But it was understood that his ecosystem and his companions would not do such an act. He tried to test the government that if we do this then let's see what happens. So everyone is seeing what is happening now. The action will be complete. As much as their system is and the way they are all connected, those who support them and give them protection, action is going to be taken against all of them. This message is for those people who support such elements and help them in other ways, then this matter will not be limited to them only. Whoever does this, will come under siege.

Whether Umesh Pal was a witness or not is not an issue because even if he was there, he could not have been killed. Suppose he was not a witness, then will he be murdered? This cannot be any justification. That issue is secondary in my view. The question is that a person who had no crime was murdered. A man who was trying to help the law has been murdered.
