Tech Mahindra Share Price Today: Stock Jumps 7% After Q2 Results and 1:1 Bonus Announcement

Posted on 16th Oct 2026 02:24 pm by rohit kumar

Shares of Tech Mahindra rallied sharply in early trading on Friday, October 16, after the IT services company announced strong second-quarter results for FY2026–27 and recommended a 1:1 bonus issue. The stock climbed more than 7%, with the share price reaching around ₹1,776 on the NSE during morning trade, according to the figures cited in market reports. The recent rally has also pushed the stock up by more than 20% over five trading sessions, as investors responded to improving earnings and deal momentum. Reuters Moneycontrol

The company’s board has recommended a 1:1 bonus share issue, under which eligible shareholders will receive one additional equity share for every existing share held, subject to the required approvals. The announcement comes as Tech Mahindra marks its 40th anniversary.

Tech Mahindra Bonus Issue 2026: When Will Shares Be Credited?

According to reports citing the company’s regulatory filing, Tech Mahindra expects the bonus shares to be credited to eligible investors’ accounts by December 15, 2026. Investors should check the company’s official announcements for the final schedule, eligibility conditions and other applicable details.

Under a 1:1 bonus issue, an investor holding 100 Tech Mahindra shares would receive 100 additional shares if eligible. The total number of shares held would therefore increase to 200. However, a bonus issue does not automatically double an investor’s total investment value: the market price generally adjusts to reflect the increased number of shares.

The proposed issue would be Tech Mahindra’s first bonus issue since March 2015, when it issued bonus shares in a 1:1 ratio. The latest proposal remains subject to the applicable approval process. Economic Times

Tech Mahindra Q2 FY27 Results: Net Profit Rises 32.7%

Tech Mahindra reported consolidated net profit attributable to owners of ₹1,585.6 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, marking a 32.7% increase year-on-year compared with ₹1,194.5 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Revenue from operations rose 15.6% year-on-year to ₹16,180.2 crore. In dollar terms, revenue increased 2% quarter-on-quarter to $1.693 billion, exceeding the cited market estimate of $1.682 billion.

The company also reported improved operating performance. Earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) rose 40.5% year-on-year to ₹2,387 crore, while the EBIT margin improved to 14.8%, compared with 12.2% in the year-ago quarter.

New deal wins reached $1.023 billion in total contract value, up 25.4% year-on-year. Stronger deal momentum and improving margins were among the factors supporting investor sentiment after the results. Tech Mahindra’s official Q2 FY27 results

Tech Mahindra Announces ₹15 Interim Dividend

Along with its quarterly results and bonus issue recommendation, the company declared an interim dividend of ₹15 per equity share for FY2026–27. The announced record date for determining dividend eligibility is October 23, 2026, according to published results coverage.

Investors should distinguish the dividend record date from the bonus issue timetable, as the two corporate actions have separate eligibility requirements and procedures.

Tech Mahindra Share Price: What Are HSBC and CLSA Saying?

Brokerages have offered different views on Tech Mahindra’s outlook following the quarterly results.

HSBC: Buy rating, ₹1,800 target price

HSBC retained its Buy rating and set a target price of ₹1,800 per share. The brokerage said the quarterly performance was slightly better than expected, with improved operating trends and deal momentum supporting its assessment.

CLSA: Hold rating, ₹1,494 target price

CLSA maintained its Hold rating with a target price of ₹1,494 per share. According to reported brokerage estimates, Tech Mahindra’s Q2 revenue, EBIT and net profit exceeded expectations by approximately 0.2%, 2% and 3%, respectively. Moneycontrol

The differing targets underline that brokerages do not share a uniform view of the stock’s near-term potential. Target prices are estimates, not guaranteed outcomes, and can change as earnings expectations, valuations and market conditions evolve.

Why Are IT Stocks Rallying?

The latest gains in Tech Mahindra came amid renewed interest in IT stocks following quarterly earnings announcements. Investors are assessing revenue growth, operating margins, new contract wins and management commentary for signs that demand across technology services is stabilising.

Tech Mahindra’s latest results showed stronger year-on-year profit growth, higher revenue and more than $1 billion in new deal wins. These figures helped improve sentiment around the company, although global economic uncertainty, client spending decisions, currency movements and competitive pricing remain important risks for the IT services sector.

Should Investors Track Tech Mahindra Shares?

Tech Mahindra is in focus after its Q2 FY27 performance, proposed 1:1 bonus issue and interim dividend announcement. The rally and brokerage commentary may attract further attention, but investors should consider the company’s valuation, earnings outlook and broader market risks rather than relying on a single day’s share-price movement.

The bonus issue increases the number of shares held by eligible investors but does not, by itself, create additional economic value. The final bonus timetable and eligibility details should be confirmed through the company’s official disclosures.
