All the teams have geared up for the Asia Cup starting next month in the United Arab Emirates. Team India has been announced long ago, and the team will leave for Dubai in a few days. But some players will not go with the team. BCCI has taken this decision, which is surprising.
Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and T20 team captain Suryakumar Yadav announced the team through a press conference. Along with this, the names of four reserve players were also announced. Reserve players are kept so that they can be selected if someone from the main team gets injured. These players usually travel with the team. In the Asia Cup, the BCCI has changed its path and has decided not to send reserve players with the team. News agency PTI gave this information.
A BCCI official gave information
When a senior BCCI official was asked whether the reserve players would also travel with the team for the Asia Cup? He said, "No, the standby players will not go to Dubai with the main team."
This decision reflects the team management's preference to travel with fewer people. When replacements are needed, standby players will be sent to Dubai. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been selected as a replacement for the opener. The team already has players like Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson who are openers. Jaiswal will get a chance only if any of them gets injured.
The same is the case with Prasidh Krishna. He will also get a chance when Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshit Rana get injured. By the way, India has announced a 15-member team while a 17-member team was to be selected for the Asia Cup.
The team will arrive on this day
The report states that the team will reach Dubai on September 4 and will practice at the ICC Academy the next day. The players will leave for Dubai from their respective cities. The Asia Cup is starting from September 9. India will face the UAE at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on the 10th. India will face Pakistan on the 14th. Team India will clash with Oman on the 19th. After this, matches of the Super-4 stage will be played.
