After the release of the notification for the election of Congress President, Shashi Tharoor was the first to talk about contesting the elections. Ashok Gehlot also joined the race after Rahul Gandhi's decision not to contest the election.
Is Gehlot still in the race?
After the rebellion of pro-Gehlot MLAs in Rajasthan Congress, the name of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was told out of the race for the post of president. However, Gehlot is not out of the race yet. Ashok Gehlot is scheduled to meet party president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Wednesday. Sources say that Gehlot will file a nomination for the presidential election only when consent is received from the Gandhi family.
