A major accident took place in Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. A speeding truck and a private bus collided head-on on the Aira bridge. The collision was so strong that the bus blew up. There were about 65 people on the bus including the driver. Of these, 8 people died on the spot. 30 people are said to be injured. Lakhimpur Kheri ADM Sanjay Kumar Singh said that the seriously injured have been referred to Lucknow. The rest of the people are being treated in the district hospital.

The body of the bus was destroyed by the collision. Many dead bodies got stuck in it. The police removed the dead bodies and passengers by cutting the body of the bus with a gas cutter. The bus was coming from Ishanagar in Dhaurhara to Lucknow, while the truck was coming from the Punjab side. The accident happened on the Aira bridge of NH-730. After this, there was a jam of about 8 km on both sides of the highway. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the accident. He has sent DM and SP to the spot.

The driver was driving the bus at high speed and did not agree even after refusing

A passenger on the bus said, 'The bus carrying 65 passengers was coming towards Lucknow from Dhaurhara. The driver was driving the bus at a very high speed. The passengers asked to reduce the speed, but the driver did not agree. This is the reason that Aira collided with a truck coming from the front of the bridge. In the accident, 4 passengers on the bus and the truck driver died on the spot. The conductor of the truck died on the way to the district hospital."

4 youths, a woman, and a child are among the dead

Four youths, a woman, and a child were among those killed in the accident. There is no clear information about the remaining two dead. On getting information about the accident, BJP MLA from Dhaurahara Vinod Shankar Awasthi reached the district hospital. The MLA got into an argument with DM Mahendra Bahadur Singh and the CMO of the hospital over the non-treatment of patients in the district hospital. The MLA said that due to a lack of proper arrangements in the district hospital, there was a delay in the treatment of the passengers.

Chief Minister expressed grief, sent officers for relief

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over this accident. Praying for peace to the departed soul, the Chief Minister expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. Along with this, the officials of the district administration have been instructed to send the injured to the hospital immediately and give them proper treatment.
