Let us tell you that in the 16th match of IPL 2024, KKR batted first and scored 272 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs.
That's why Pant was fined Rs 24 lakh
This was the second-highest team score in the current IPL. In reply, the Delhi Capitals team was all out for 166 runs in 17.2 overs and lost the match by 106 runs. BCCI issued a statement saying that Pant has been fined due to a slow over-rate. Delhi Capitals also had a slow over-rate against CSK and was found guilty for the second time against KKR.
This is the reason why Pant was fined Rs 24 lakh. Other players including the Impact player were fined 25 percent of the match fee. BCCI said in its statement, "Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant and his team were fined for maintaining a slow over-rate against KKR."
The statement further said, “This was Delhi Capitals' second offense of the season under the IPL Code of Conduct. Pant was fined Rs 24 lakh. The remaining members of the playing 11, including the Impact player, were fined Rs 6 lakh each or 25 percent of their match fee. Whichever is less, the penalty is imposed accordingly.
Pant may be banned
Rishabh Pant is in danger of a one-match ban. If the Delhi Capitals team continues to maintain a slow over-rate in a match, it will be their third mistake and in such a case the captain will be banned for one match. It is noteworthy that the Delhi Capitals team is in 9th position in the points table of IPL 2024 with three losses in 4 matches.
Delhi Capitals team will play its next match against Mumbai Indians on April 7 at Wankhede Stadium. The Mumbai team is in the last position in the points table, having lost its first three matches.
