Maharashtra: FIR lodged against two including contractor in the case of Shivaji Maharaj's statue falling; Government and opposition attack and counter-attack

Police in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra have registered a case against the contractor and structural consultant in the case of the fall of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled this statue at Rajkot Fort in Malvan tehsil of Sindhudurg on Navy Day (December 4) last year. The 35-foot-high statue of 17th-century Maratha Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj fell on Monday at around 1 pm. The reasons for this are being investigated.

 

The state government is facing a lot of criticism

This incident has brought a lot of criticism to the Eknath Shinde-led state government. Opposition parties are criticizing it. CM Shinde said that the statue was designed and built by the Indian Navy. Now an assistant engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) complained to the Malvan police station on Monday evening. According to the complainant, the artist and consultant are responsible for the fall of the statue.

 

FIR under these sections

 

He informed that based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against contractor Jaydeep Apte and structural consultant Chetan Patil. He informed that a case has been registered against them under sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) for an attempt to commit culpable homicide, act endangering the life or personal safety of others, attempts to murder, and fraud as well as Section 3 (mischief causing damage to public property) of the Public Property Damage Prevention Act.

 

Minister Deepak Kesarkar also visited the spot

 

Earlier, Minister Deepak Kesarkar expressed grief. He also visited the spot. He said that it is sad that the statue of Shivaji Maharaj collapsed. Now a 100 feet high statue should be built in its place. He also said that he would talk to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister about this. Also, all the estimates will be ready.

 

Aditya Thackeray attacked BJP

 

The collapse of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been severely criticized. UBT Shiv Sena MLA Aditya Thackeray has blamed the arrogance of the BJP for this. He said, 'We will never tolerate the insult of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who is the ideal of us and the whole of Maharashtra. The statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji in Malvan, which was built in a hurry given the elections and inaugurated by Modi ji, collapsed today in just eight months.'
