Police in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra have registered a case against the contractor and structural consultant in the case of the fall of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The 35-foot-high statue of 17th-century Maratha Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj fell on Monday at around 1 pm. The reasons for this are being investigated.

He informed that based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against contractor Jaydeep Apte and structural consultant Chetan Patil. He informed that a case has been registered against them under sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) for an attempt to commit culpable homicide, act endangering the life or personal safety of others, attempts to murder, and fraud as well as Section 3 (mischief causing damage to public property) of the Public Property Damage Prevention Act.
