
Police in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra have registered a case against the contractor and structural consultant in the case of the fall of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled this statue at Rajkot Fort in Malvan tehsil of Sindhudurg on Navy Day (December 4) last year. The 35-foot-high statue of 17th-century Maratha Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj fell on Monday at around 1 pm. The reasons for this are being investigated.

CM Shinde said that the statue was designed and built by the Indian Navy. Now an assistant engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) complained to the Malvan police station on Monday evening. According to the complainant, the artist and consultant are responsible for the fall of the statue.

He informed that based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against contractor Jaydeep Apte and structural consultant Chetan Patil. He informed that a case has been registered against them under sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) for an attempt to commit culpable homicide, act endangering the life or personal safety of others, attempts to murder, and fraud as well as Section 3 (mischief causing damage to public property) of the Public Property Damage Prevention Act.
