The lower court on Wednesday accepted the petition declaring the Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti located in Ajmer, Rajasthan as a Hindu temple. The court has issued notice to all the parties and fixed 20 December 2024 for hearing.
Now All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has reacted strongly on this matter. He has targeted the Modi government.
Asaduddin Owaisi targeted
In a lawsuit claiming a Shiva temple inside the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi said, "The dargah has been there for the last 800 years. From Nehru till now, all the Prime Ministers have been sending 'chadar' to the dargah. PM Modi also sends 'chadar'. Why has the BJP-RSS spread this hatred regarding mosques and dargahs? Why are the lower courts not hearing the Places of Worship Act? In this way, where will the rule of law remain, and has democracy ended? This is not in the interest of the country. The rule of Modi and RSS is weakening the rule of law in the country.''
Had raised questions on social media
Earlier, he had also raised questions on social media after the court order. He had alleged that the law and the Constitution are being flouted to fulfill the agenda of Hindutva organizations. Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi has posted a post on the social media platform X. He said, that Sultan-e-Hind Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti (Rahmatullah) is one of the most important saints of Indian Muslims. People have been visiting his shrine for centuries and will continue to do so, Insha Allah. Many kings, Maharajas, and emperors have come and gone, but Khwaja Ajmeri's shrine is still inhabited.
He further said, that the 1991 Ibadat Gahs Act clearly states that the religious identity of any place of worship cannot be changed, nor will these cases be heard in court. It is the legal duty of the courts to implement the 1991 Act. It is very unfortunate that the law and the Constitution are being violated to fulfill the agenda of Hindutva organizations and PM Narendra Modi is watching silently.
