On November 17, suspected Kuki militants kidnapped three women and three children from the Borobekra area of Jiribam district of Manipur after an encounter with security forces. A few days later, their bodies were found in the Jiri River in Jiribam district and the nearby Barak River in Cachar, Assam.

Officials said that the post-mortem of the remaining three people who were victims of the suspected militants was also conducted at Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) in Assam. Citing the post-mortem report, officials said that 10-month-old infant Laishram Lamanganba was shot in the left knee joint. When the militants were not satisfied, they gouged out both the eyes of the child.
Lamanganba's aunt, 31-year-old Telem Thoibi, was shot three times in the chest and once in the stomach. Her skull was crushed by a blunt object, causing severe fractures and brain damage. Not only this, her eyes were gouged out. The post-mortem report also confirmed that the woman was raped. Thoibi's eight-year-old daughter Telem Thazamanbi Devi also died of bullet injuries.
