Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra May Get New Camera Design, Bigger Battery and Magnetic Features

Samsung is reportedly preparing major design and hardware changes for its next-generation flagship smartphone lineup, the Galaxy S27 series. According to recent leaks, the premium Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra could feature a redesigned horizontal camera bar, larger silicon-carbon batteries, upgraded OLED displays and support for magnetic accessories.

The upcoming lineup may include four smartphones: the standard Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra. Interestingly, Samsung could introduce different rear camera designs for the standard and premium models, creating a clearer distinction between the devices.

Although Samsung has not officially confirmed these details, leaks from tipsters and reports from technology publications have offered an early look at what consumers might expect in 2027.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra May Get a New Horizontal Camera Design

One of the biggest reported changes concerns the rear camera arrangement.

Tipster Ice Universe has shared images of purported Galaxy S27 series smartphone cases, suggesting that Samsung could adopt two different camera designs across its upcoming flagship lineup.

The leaked covers reportedly show that the standard Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ may retain a vertically arranged camera layout, similar to the current Galaxy S26 design.

However, the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra could feature a wider, horizontal rectangular camera module. This design may place the camera components side by side rather than arranging them vertically.

The redesigned camera module could also help Samsung accommodate magnetic components for Qi2-compatible accessories. However, the final design and the extent of magnetic integration remain unconfirmed.

Galaxy S27 Pro, Ultra Display Sizes Leaked

The leaked information also points towards differences in display sizes across the four models.

The Galaxy S27 Pro is tipped to feature a 6.47-inch display, while the Galaxy S27+ could come with a 6.66-inch screen. The Galaxy S27 Ultra may offer the largest display at approximately 6.89 inches.

Samsung could also differentiate its premium models through display technology.

Reports suggest that the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra may use Samsung Display's newer M16 OLED panel material. Meanwhile, the standard Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ could reportedly use M14-based displays.

If implemented, this could give the premium models an advantage in areas such as display efficiency, brightness and overall panel performance. Actual specifications and improvements will depend on Samsung's final hardware choices.

Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra May Feature Bigger Silicon-Carbon Batteries

Battery capacity could be another major upgrade in Samsung's 2027 flagship lineup.

According to reports attributed to Galaxy Club, the Galaxy S27 Pro may feature a battery of approximately 5,200mAh, while the Galaxy S27 Ultra could pack a larger 5,700mAh battery.

Both premium smartphones are tipped to use silicon-carbon battery technology. This battery chemistry can potentially offer higher energy density, allowing manufacturers to increase capacity without significantly increasing the physical size of the battery.

For comparison, the Galaxy S26 Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery. If the reported 5,700mAh capacity is accurate, the next-generation Ultra could deliver a noticeable increase in battery capacity.

However, battery capacity alone does not determine real-world battery life. Processor efficiency, display technology, software optimisation and charging behaviour will also play important roles.

It is not yet clear whether Samsung will bring silicon-carbon batteries to the standard Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ models.

Qi2 Magnetic Charging and Accessories Could Arrive

Samsung may also introduce support for Qi2 magnetic technology on the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra.

Qi2-compatible magnetic functionality could allow users to attach supported accessories directly to the back of their smartphones. These could include magnetic wireless chargers, power banks, stands and other compatible accessories.

If Samsung integrates the required magnetic components into the phones, users may not need a special magnetic case for basic accessory attachment.

The reported horizontal camera design could potentially provide more flexibility for placing magnetic components on the rear panel. However, Samsung has not confirmed whether the phones will include built-in magnets or the exact wireless charging capabilities.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Series May Get LPDDR6 RAM and Faster Storage

Apart from the external design, Samsung is reportedly evaluating new hardware technologies for its premium smartphones.

According to Korean tipster Lanzuk, development of the standard Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ hardware is progressing, while some specifications of the Pro and Ultra models are still being finalised.
